KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani has said that the main objectives of the thoughts and campaign of Abdul Ali Mazari, the former leader of Hizb-i-Wihdat Islami Party, were social justice and fair political participation.
The president said this in his message read out on the occasion of the Abdul Ali Mazari’s 22nd death anniversary observed in Kabul on Thursday.
In his message, the president said: “Last year these days, the National Unity Medal was conferred on Shaheed Mazari and the decision was taken after studying Mazari’s thoughts which are focused on two points – social justice and fair political participation.”
He said the followers of Mazari had special affiliation with their leader despite the passage of 22 years of his death. He said Mazari had been demanding national unity as he considered inter-ethnic enmity as disaster. “Today as well it remains the need of the hour to follow our leaders thoughts and stand in one line against the country’s enemies.”
The president said rule of law, uniform development, reforms and countering corruption and terrorism were main priorities of the unity government.
He said the unity government had taken gait leaps in various fields during the past two years in order to find access to regional ports and railway lines for the sake of the country’s fundamental development. (Pajhwok)
