Zakhelwal Hopes for De-Escalation of Tension with Pakistan

KABUL - Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Hazrat Umar Zakhelwal hopes for quick de-escalation of tensions between the two neighbouring countries after meeting top Pakistani officials, including Foreign Affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz.
“I expect quick de-escalation of the current tension and the creation of a more positive environment for responding to each other's concerns and grievances in a cooperative manner,” the diplomat wrote on his social media account.
Zakhelwal said during the meeting he handed a list of terrorists and terrorist training centres to Pakistan's civilian and military officials and held productive talks with them.
On Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said the Afghan embassy in Islamabad handed over a list of 85 terrorists and 32 terrorist training camps in Pakistan and asked the neighbouring country to take action against them.
The letter was handed over to Pakistani authorities by the ambassador and an immediate action against the 32 terrorist training centres was demanded, MoFA said.
The statement said the initial response from Pakistani authorities with regard to the list was positive and there was an expression of hope that practical actions would be taken in this regard. (Pajhwok)
