Afghanistan Imports 10,000 Tons of Oil from Russia

KABUL - A major Russian oil company will export 10,000 tons of oil and gas to Afghanistan later this month, the Afghan commerce ministry said on Sunday.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industries hoped that the export of oil will overcome its shortage in Kabul.
This contract was signed between the Afghan government and Russia's Gas Prom Company.

Importing the oil will decrease the price of oil in Kabul, the ministr

y hoped. "We will import 10,000 tons of oil to Kabul this month and another 490,000 tons in the next three months from Russia," said Farid Shirzay, the head of Gas and Oil Department in Kabul.

The oil will be distributed through state-run tank stations throughout the city. Russia exports 500,000 tones of gas and oil to Afghanistan annually based on a fixed contract.
