KABUL - Saudi King announced support to Afghanistan's peace efforts during a meeting with President Hamid Karzai.
President Karzai held meetings with King Abdullah and senior officials in Riyadh to discuss peace and security in Afghanistan.
"They discussed international efforts to achieve security and stability in Afghanistan as well as the prospects for cooperation between the two countries," officials said.
President Karzai also talked about major regional issues from security to economic cooperation with officials in Riyadh and his visit was mainly aimed at seeking Saudi help to persuade Taliban leaders into reconciliation talks, officials said.
Karzai's Saudi visit came a week after Britain hosted a meeting of nearly 70 countries to discuss Afghanistan's problems and ways to end the war between the Taliban and Kabul.
