KABUL - The Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish said on Saturday war and unemployment are the two main hurdles for human rights development in Afghanistan.
Danish told a gathering in Kabul on Saturday that human rights are being violated by militants in the country.
"Today, in many cases, human rights are violated by anti-government militants in Afghanistan – in a very harsh and inhumane way," he stated.
Meanwhile, the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) called on Taliban to end the war and stop the killing.
"Today, unfortunately we do not have access to the security which is deserved by citizens. Government must ensure the safety of the people," said the AIHRC chairperson Sima Samar.
"The goals of sustainable development, fighting terrorism, and supporting efforts to establish peace are important to the Afghan government," said Adila Raz, deputy head of the economic cooperation department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the same event, Michael Peterson, deputy European Union ambassador said: "Recent data shows that violence against women is as widespread as ever. And there is an urgent need to do something to help them." (Tolonews)
