Abdullah Expects Wolesi Jirga to Approve Fiscal Budget

KABUL - Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah said on Monday at the Council of Ministers Meeting that he expects the Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of Parliament) to approve next year's budget.
"We hope that the budget is approved and I am sure that representatives of Afghans [MPs] will act from a responsible stance in this and on other issues," Abdullah stated.
MPs' recently warned they will reject the budget after government referred their decision to dismiss seven ministers to the Supreme Court.
"The president [Ashraf Ghani] told us in a meeting that lawmakers should not expect better work and outcomes from the incumbent cabinet," said Mohammad Nadir Baloch, a senator.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Wali Massoud, former Afghan ambassador to the U.K, commented on the consequences of the current situation in the country if it prevails.
He said: "The continuation of the rift will result in a political collapse if the National Unity Government's political agreement is not implemented and if structures are not defined. This probable political fall will lead the country towards a deeper crisis."
"The legitimacy of government is becoming questionable gradually. The formation of the National Unity Government is itself a big question and big political matter," said Ainuddin Badahaduri, a lawyer. (Tolonews)
