No Approval of Budget if New Ministers Not Named: Qadeer

No Approval of Budget if New Ministers Not Named: Qadeer

KABUL - The Wolesi Jirga would not endorse the budget if new ministers replacing the sacked cabinet members are not nominated by the government, the first deputy speaker warned on Friday.
At a news conference here, Zahir Qadeer took great pains to establish that the lower house had not sacked the ministers on the basis of a grudge or vengeance.
He insisted lawmakers had taken the step in line with the relevant law. “We want the government to work together with the house, which doesn’t desire any confrontation between the two organs…”
However, Qadeer made clear the legislators would continue defending the rights of the helpless people, who had voted for them, under all circumstances.
On the other hand, the government has prayed the Supreme Court to look into the legality of the no-confidence proceedings. President Ashraf Ghani has asked the disqualified ministers to continue working till the apex court hands down a verdict.
The Wolesi Jirga has disqualified the ministers of communications, public works, labour affairs, foreign affairs, civil aviation and higher education. (Pajhwok)
