Watchdog Views Dostum’s Remarks as a Sign of a Fragile Situation

KABUL - Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) on Thursday said they believe that the recent statement made by the First Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum is a sign of a fragile situation in the country.
AIHRC spokesman, Rafiullah Bedar, said they will not accept any act or speech that leads to the worsening of the situation regarding citizens' rights in the country.
"Any force that speaks of its power and military power and uses their military actions should be according to the law, and should be inside the law's structure. The AIHRC rejects any kind of act which is illegal and is beyond the law," he added.
Meanwhile, talking on the issue, Aziz Rafiee, head of Afghanistan Civil Society Organizations' Association, said: "The issue of social justice and equality of citizens in Afghanistan is a serious matter which has been violated throughout history and its repeat will result in further fragility [in the country]."
"The law has given them [officials] authorities and responsibilities. It is one of their responsibilities to make their speech and acts according to the law," said Gul Ahmad Madadzai, deputy head of Afghanistan Lawyers' Union.
This comes after the first vice president earlier this week accused President Ashraf Ghani of nepotism and blamed a number of local security officials in Faryab for what he called incompetence. (Tolonews)
