KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani on Friday asked military officers to stay committed to the defence of Afghanistan and aloof from politics.
The president said this during a meeting with the military officers, who have just returned from the US and other European countries on completion of training.
Aimal Pacha, Kambiz Yama and Abdul Haseeb Sadiqi represented the officers, hailing Ghani for his special attention to the development of security institutions and training of armed forces.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said they shared their security concerns with Ghani. After completing their education, the officers said, they were ready to serve the country and fight against insurgents.
The president paid tribute to martyred and wounded security officials, saying the sacrifices of security personnel had enabled Afghanistan to achieve success at international forumslike Warsaw and Brussels Conferences.
Ghani told the officers: “You have to be disciplined, far from politics. Then you will be able to serve the country in the best possible manner and no one would be able to pass negative comments on you.” (Pajhwok)
