KABUL - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah on Sunday said the national unity government came into power with public mandate for a five-year term and seeking its replacement was a dream that would not come true.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of Citizen Charter Programme in Kabul, Abdullah said despite shortcomings during the past two years, the government had also many achievements.
The government’s commitment to serving people was strong and there were no differences in any corner of the country over the government’s programmes, he said.
“We hear some words like the period of the national unity government has ended, I assure you nothing has ended, the Afghan people voted President Ashraf Ghani and me through an election process,” he said.
He added those thinking for a change in the current government would be unable to do so and their this dream would remain a dream.
“We must accept criticism about our shortcomings, but it does not mean we are unaware of it, we hear criticism and also respond,” the CEO said.
Vowing to use all resources for improvement during the government’s remaining time, Abdullah said the government had not ignored its commitments and efforts for bringing reform to the election system and holding elections were underway.
Calling the peace agreement with the Hizb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) a great achievement, he rejected claims that the government paid a big price for the accord.
Assuring that rights of people were not violated in the agreement and would not be violated in future deals, the CEO said those killing Afghans to achieve their goals and destroying public assets had proved themselves wrong in the past 15 years. (Pajhwok)
