Ghani, Abdullah Expected to Meet Within Next Few Days

KABUL - As the rift between President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah enters its 10th day, sources said on Sunday that the two leaders will meet for the second time within the next few days to overcome their differences.
The chief executive's deputy spokesman Jawed Faisal said that it is difficult to overcome Afghanistan's challenges and address the public's demands without cooperation between the National Unity Government (NUG) leaders.
According to a number of sources, the two leaders held a 30-minute meeting on Wednesday, where the chief executive discussed his demands with Ghani.
"President Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah want to working side by side," Faisal added.
A number of analysts meanwhile criticized the NUG leaders for the rift and called on the president and the chief executive to work together and overcome their current challenges.
"Afghanistan will face problems not only in politics but also in security and the economy if the rift between the two leaders continues," said political commentator Abdul Ghayur.
According to a number of sources, Ghani is expected to discuss Abdullah's demands during their next meeting. Sources have said the third meeting will be to reach an agreement.(Tolonews)
