KABUL - The National Unity Government's (NUG) administrative board has finalized the amendment to the electoral law and will soon send it to cabinet for approval, President Ashraf Ghani's Press Office said in a statement on Monday afternoon.
According to the statement, the law was assessed and discussed by the NUG team, which was led by the second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish, in consultation with the commission of monitoring the implementation of the Constitution, civil society activists, political parties and a number of relevant international organizations over the past two weeks.
According to the statement, the last session of the team was held on Sunday evening at the Presidential Palace where the draft amendment was finalized. The next step is for it to be sent to cabinet for approval, the statement read.
After being approved by cabinet, the president will issue a legislative decree for the law to be implemented. This will speed up the electoral reform process, the statement said. (Tolonews)
