Obama Assures Support  to Unity Government

WARSAW - US President Barack Obama has said that his decision on troop’s level in Afghanistan was based on Washington military responsibilities and commitments with the Afghan government and its people, an official said on Saturday.
The US president expressed the view during a meeting with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on the sideline of NATO Warsaw Summit 2016 being held in Poland, Presidential Spokesman Haroon Chakhansouri told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Obma hailed unity government vision for the development and prosperity of Afghanistan during the meeting where Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah and other top government officials were present.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani lauded the US president decision on troop’s level in Afghanistan.
Earlier, the US President Barack Obama announced that 8,400 American troops would remain in Afghanistan till the end of his administration in January 2017 as against 5,500 decided earlier.
“Instead of going down to 5500 troops by the end of this year, the United States will maintain approximately 8400 troops in Afghanistan into next year through the end of my administration,” Obama said at a White House announcement on the eve of his Europe departure to attend the NATO Summit.
Meanwhile CEO Deputy Spokesman Javed Faisal said Afghan government achievements, security threats being faced, peace process and most importantly election reforms were discussed during the meeting between US president and Afghan president and CEO.(Pajhwok)
