New U.S Air Strikes Weaken Taliban

KABUL - The resumption of American air strikes has weakened the Taliban on the battle fields and also limited big movements by the insurgent forces.
Afghan Ministry of Defense (MoD) said as the result of U.S air strikes, many Taliban detention centers have been destroyed and heavy casualties have been inflicted on the enemy.
During the past eight days in Kunduz province alone, more than 50 Taliban militants, including seven of their commanders, were killed.
Air strikes have also been conducted in Helmand, Nangarhar and Baghlan provinces, inflicting heavy casualties on the Taliban and other terrorist groups.
"Afghan forces, in corporation with U.S air forces, have destroyed the enemy in key areas," said Mohammad Radmanesh, the deputy spokesman for the MoD.
U.S forces in the past eight days have also destroyed Taliban hideouts in the Imam Sahib, Dasht-e-Archi, Chahar dara, Gortipa districts.
"The Taliban are very frightened of U.S air strikes. Their forces cannot remain in any area for more than 10 minutes," said Sayd Qurban Mosavi, a military official in the north.
According to officials, Afghan commandos have conducted operations in vicinity of Kunduz city and brought about serious casualties to the Taliban.
"During the operation 15 enemy, including one of their commanders, were killed," said Qasim Jangalbagh, the Kunduz Police Chief.
Helmand provincial officials said recently that more than 300 U.S soldiers have been stationed at Bost airport to increase cooperation with and between Afghan forces in the battle fields.
"U.S forces are our partners and we hope that together we will defeat the enemies of Afghanistan's peace and stability," said Helmand police Chief Aqa Noor Kentoz.
Besides air strikes, Afghans have called for US ground operations as well.(Tolonews)
