Dozens of Policemen Surrounded By Insurgents in Khashrod

ZARANJ - Dozens of policemen have been surrounded by Taliban militants in the Khashrod district of southeaster Nimroz province, an official said on Friday.
Reinforcements have been unable to come to rescue of the besieged security personnel, Nimroz police chief, Brig. Gen. Ghulam Jilani Abu Bakar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
About 1,000 insurgents stormed a police check-point in the Arzi Balochi area of the district last night, he said, adding two of the attackers and a policeman were killed in the ensuing clash.
Several people were wounded in the firefight, the police chief said. Reinforcements had been dispatched to the area, he continued.
Meanwhile, another security official revealed that dozens of policemen manning the check-post had been besieged by the Taliban. Additional forces were yet to reach the post, he said.
He confirmed the loss of one policeman, saying two tanks had been torched by the assailants. If reinforcements were not rushed, the surrounded policemen could be killed, he warned. (Pajhwok)
