Mansour’s Killing to Hamper QCG Efforts, Fears Sherpao

PESHAWAR - Kabul-Islamabad relations may become more acrimonious after the killing of Taliban supreme leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour in a US drone strike in Balochistan province, a senior Pakistani politician has feared.
Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao told a news conference in Charsadda district on Sunday last week’s killing of Mullah Mansour in Nushki area had added fuel to the fire.
The raid could have a negative impact on the upcoming meeting of the Quadrilateral Coordination Group meeting, he believed. “To me, there is no hope the QCG will be able to resolve the Afghan issue after the killing of Mansour.”
Stressing the need for unity among Pakhtuns, he said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project would focus on developing remote areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. (Pajhwok)
