KABUL - In Implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of United Arab Emirates (may God preserve him), and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and follow up of HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of presidential Affairs and chairman of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan humanitarian Foundation, the implementation of the project of potable water supply has been launched in a number of Provinces of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan funded by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation.  The implementing of this project begun four months ago under the direct supervision of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Kabul and in coordination with the Minister of the Rural rehabilitation and development HE Eng. Nasir Ahmad Durrani, who spared no effort to overcome the obstacles and provide support for the implementation of the project in different Provinces.
During the last period the project has been achieved by 80%, and locals started advantage in access to clean drinking water in Kabul, Nengarhar, Parwan, Nimrouz and Nouristan Provinces and after the completion of the project more than 150 wells will be drilled in each province except Nouristan Province.
The Foundation seeks to make the projects sustainable and the project of supplying potable drinking water included: digging wells and providing them with pumps and preparing the vicinity of the well area to be a clean and has the requirements of public health and safety, so they do not contribute to the transmission of diseases and the growth and reproduction of health pests. Also, one of the most important pillars of the sustainability of this project is to raise awareness and educational level of the people in the villages.
Upon submission of the site in the village, the locals invited and held awareness sessions for healthy beneficiaries in all the villages, and have been preparing and printing the necessary tools for the session, it has been hired specialists to deliver these lectures and the required information and distribution of illustrative means in the local language and focus on illustrations, and answer questions from participants in a scientific and practical simple way.
The project had a positive and huge effects among the rural community because of the attention of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to provide the first supplier of life and contribute to raising the awareness level to maintain personal hygiene and community health.
HE Ambassador Juma Mohammed Al Kaabi emphasized that the UAE seeks to support aid friendly countries in the humanitarian and development areas, and claiming of the United Arab Emirates the first place in the world to lend a helping hand and to provide humanitarian and development assistance did not come from a vacuum, and that Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan  humanitarian Foundation  is one of the most active institutions in the United Arab Emirates in this area, and Emirati white hands under the wise leadership of the UAE continues in maintaining human dignity and alleviate the suffering of the poor in different locations of the Earth and God bless.
