Afghanistan, China Sign Six Cooperation Agreements

BEIJING - A senior Afghan delegation led by Afghanistan's Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah signed six cooperation agreements during their trip to China, said a press release issued by CEO's office on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the documents include a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on "One Belt One Road" project, an MoU on production and export of Afghanistan's saffron to China, an agreement on China's technical cooperation with Afghanistan worth 500 million Yuan, a draft agreement on non-emergency humanitarian aid worth 50 million Yuan to Afghanistan, an exchange note on starting studies on affordable housing projects, and an exchange note on construction of an auditorium and a faculty building at the Kabul University.
The statement said the documents were signed in the presence of Abdullah and China's Prime Minister Li Keqiang.
The statement added that the first agreement was signed by Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Afghanistan Assadullah Zamir and will pave the way for bilateral cooperation between the two countries on production and export of Afghan saffron to China.
The second agreement was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Salahuddin Rabbani on China's technical cooperation to Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the Associated Press reported that China on Monday said that Afghanistan has expressed support for Beijing's stance on the South China Sea dispute, the latest country from outside the region to line up behind China's calls for bilateral talks on the issue.
The Foreign Ministry said Afghanistan's Chief Executive made the statement in a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing that also touched on security cooperation along their border in China's volatile western region of Xinjiang. (Tolonews)
