MAZAR-I-SHARIF - A clash is ongoing following a Taliban attack on the Khulam district of northern Balkh province, officials said on Saturday.
The fighters based in Chahardara district stormed checkpoints in the Shabaghali area of Khulam on Friday night, the governor’s spokesman said.
Munir Farhardtold Pajhwok Afghan News police from Mazar-i-Sharif had reached the area and launched an operation against the assailants.
Two policemen and four of the attackers had been killed in the gunbattle, said a resident of the area, Askar Khan.
However, Farhard was unaware of casualties, saying the enemyhad been pushed back from the area and a gunbattle was going on in Airgang locality. (Pajhwok)
