We Defeat Taliban in Helmand: Gen. Qadam

LASHKARGAH - During his visit to southern Helmand province, Chief of Army Staff Gen. Qadam Shah Saheem said that Afghan security personnel suppressed militants and would be unable to carry out spring attacks in the province.
A delegation from the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Interior led by Gen. Shaheem on Monday visited Helmand for assessing the security situation of the province.
According to Shaheem, they have establishment six more battalions, have resolved the problems of air force and improved coordination between Afghan forces and foreign advisors in the province.
“We also stationed some units of special forces who consecutively attack on militants in Helmand,” he said.
While responding to a query, he said that the numbers of security personnel have been increased, so Taliban could not carry out their spring attacks in the province.
However, a member of provincial council, Ataullah Afghan, said that similar delegations had already came to the province with no positive result.
Another member of the council, BaryalayNazari, said increasing numbers of soldiers could not improve security of the province, if there is week management.
There were still ghost soldiers of security forces, so the problem has to be addressed and the key officials of security forces should be transferred from the province. (Pajhwok)
