Taliban Quetta Shura Leading War in Helmand

KABUL - The Taliban's Quetta Shura is leading the war in Musa Qala district of southern Helmand province, said a number of Helmand Provincial Council members and civil society activists.
They said that a number of Quetta Shura members have come to the district to lead the war against Afghan security forces.
They asked the concerned organizations to prevent an influx of the Taliban Quetta Shura members to the district.
"If the government can not prevent this issue, then Helmand will have a tough war ahead during this spring season," said Majid Akhundzada, deputy chairman of the Helmand provincial council.
Ataullah Afghan, secretary of the council agreed that a number of Taliban Quetta Shura members have come to the district to lead the war.
Meanwhile, a number of civil society activists in Helmand province, have asked how the Quetta Shura members managed to reach Musa Qala.
"We are concerned about activities of Quetta Shura in Musa Qala and we want to know how did they make it to the district," said Mirza Mohammad Haqparast, a civil society activist in Helmand.
Sardar Mohammad Hamdard, another activist, urged the government to prevent the influx of the Quetta Shura members to the district.
Local officials in Helmand, however, declined to comment about the presence of Quetta Shura members in Musa Qala.
This comes after the 215th Maiwand Military Corps abandoned their main military base - Roshan Tower - in Musa Qala.
According to members of Helmand provincial council a large swathe of land in the district is under the Taliban's control. (Tolonews)
