Iran, Afghanistan Sign  MoU in Mining Sector

KABUL - Iran and Afghanistan on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of exploitation and exploration of mines in Afghanistan.
The MoU was signed in the course of a meeting between Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohamamd Reza Nematzadeh and Minister of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan Dawood Shah Saba.
Nematzadeh arrived in Kabul Friday for a one-day visit to open the 3rd exclusive Iran’s exhibition in the Afghan capital with the participation of over 80 Iranian companies and a number of companies of the host country.
Based on the MoU, the two countries will cooperate in the field of exploration and exploitation of mines in Afghanistan and its export to other countries.
Afghanistan possesses gold, iron, copper, uranium, coal and precious stones mines.
Shah Saba expressed the hope that with the signing of the MoU, cooperation between the two countries will further expand and investment of the private sectors in the field of mining will start. (IRNA)
