China’s Role Vital in Afghan Peace Talks: Ghani

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani during a meeting with Chinese ambassador in Kabul on Saturday said China was playing an important role in bringing peace to Afghanistan.
The Chinese envoy extended his country’s president best wishes to President Ghani and the people of Afghanistan at their meeting at the Presidential Palace this afternoon, a statement from the palace said.
The ambassador said his country’s leadership concept about Afghanistan had taken a positive turn after Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao’s visit to Kabul in November. Since Ashraf Ghani’s first visit to China last year, considerable progress had been made in political, economic and people-to-people relations between the two countries, the envoy said.
He took into confidence President Ghani about his call for practical work on the construction of the railroad between China and Afghanistan and said an agreement on cooperation in this regard would signed soon so that Afghanistan could benefit from the mega project.
Yao Jing said as member of the four-nation talks on Afghanistan reconciliation, Beijing praised Kabul’s efforts at bringing peace and ending the war in Afghanistan.
President Ghani thanked the Chinese government and people for their well wishes for and cooperation with Afghanistan and hoped more high-ranking Chinese officials would visit Kabul.
Ghani called as important China’s role in the four-nation talks and urged China’s cooperation in various Afghan sectors. (Pajhwok)
