Clerics Slam Civilian Killings as Un-Islamic

KABUL - A number of religious scholar said on Friday that killing innocent civilians was in contravention of the teachings of Islam.
They added that those involved in such attacks are not real Muslims.
Members of the Ulema Council of Afghanistan slammed the attack and said that attacks on civilians are not justifiable.
"Recent incidents [of terror attacks] in other provinces and Kabul, particularly the attack on staff members of TOLO TV, are not justifiable. I as an Afghan, Muslim, religious scholar or a representative of the High Peace Council (HPC) condemn this attack," said Maulavi Shahzada Shahid, a member of the Ulema Council of Afghanistan.
Sadullah Abu Aman, Head of the Ulema Council of Badakhshan, said the recent attack on a civilian target is in contrast with the teachings of Islam.
Head of the Afghanistan Ulema Foundation, Mohammad Qasem Alemi, said killing of civilians was a big crime in Islam.
"Attacks on innocent people are in sharp contrast with the teachings of Islam,"Alemi said.
Meanwhile, a number Imams in Kabul mosques described the killing of civilians as a selfish act.
Mohammad Ayaz Niazi, Imam of Wazir Akhbarkhan mosque, said no one is better than another. "Everyone who is being killed is oppressed and is a Muslim," he said, adding that none should remain indifferent towards these killings.` (Tolonews)
