More Than 300 Afghans in Germany Request Repatriation

BERLIN - More than 300 Afghans settled in Germany requested their voluntary repatriation in the last two months, Government sources reported today in this capital.

According to migratory authorities, 320 people presented requests to the consulates in Munich and Bonn, as well as at the embassy in Berlin, to obtain passports and travel back to their country.

Afghan Ambassador to Germany Hamid Sediq said that number continued increasing and most candidates, between 15 and 25 years of age, said the reason was their desire to meet their families.

Sediq added that that the embassy and the consulates in Afghanistan would charge 120 euros per passport, but would determine their identities first, although they would also issue those documents for free for those applicants without the necessary resources.

Government data said around 150,000 Afghans left the country during this year, especially due to security deterioration, to depart for European countries. (Agencies)
