Masoom Stanekzai: Pakistan in Declared War Against Afghanistan

KABUL - The acting minister of defense, Masoom Stanekzai, has said Pakistan has entered into a declared war against Afghanistan.

"Allegiances are being promised to Taliban's new leader in open meetings [in Pakistan], and they [Taliban] announce at such meetings that they are continuing their war and also at such meetings, they claim responsibility for the biggest crime that recently took place in Kabul. What does this all mean? This means an undeclared war has turned into a declared war," Stanekzai said.

His statements came after reports emerged that Taliban's senior members were holding open meetings in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to discuss appointment of a successor for the group's late leader Mullah Omar – who was confirmed last month to have died on 2013 in Pakistan's Karachi city.

Meanwhile, the first Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum – who is in the northwestern Faryab province to clear the province of Taliban insurgents – once again blamed Pakistan's military and intelligence agencies for the unrest in Afghanistan, especially in the north.

"The fighting in the north is a fight of ISI with our forces and our nation," Dostum said.

The recent wave of attacks and bombings in Kabul apparently changed Afghanistan's view and policy towards Pakistan after the Afghan intelligence sources blamed the attacks on ISI.

"Now everybody in Afghanistan understands who is supporting terrorists," Interior Minister Noorulhaq Olomi said.

The analysts, meanwhile, urged the National Unity Government (NUG) leaders end their differences and make strategic plans to defy plans of the enemies.

Many believe that President Ashraf Ghani's policy for Pakistan has not worked in the country's favor.

"At the beginning, President Ghani put efforts to have a friendly policy towards Pakistan, but after 10 months, he eventually came to know that this policy doesn't work and needs to be changed," said Nasrullah Stanekzai, a university professor. (Tolonews)
