MoD Rejects Reports of 75 % Rise in ANSF Casualties

KABUL - The Ministry of Defense  (MoD) rejected reports of 75 % rise in Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) casualties this year.General Dawlat Waziri, the ministry’s spokesman confirmed that a casualty rise has been recorded but stated that it is not by 75 %.

He said Afghan forces casualty has risen by around 3.5 % this year in comparison to 2014.

Waziri reiterated that the militants casualties are way more than the security forces.

Reports published earlier in media stated that the Afghan forces casualty has risen by 75 % in the first six months of 2015 in comparison to the first six months of 2014.

The report was prepared based on the data received.

It also showed that 60 % rise has been recorded due to the lack of lethal items and logistics, they have not been delivered on time to the security forces while in combat, as a result security forces lost lives or wounded in ambushes and landmine explosions.

The other five percent was recorded in clashes, some erupted after their check posts were attacked by insurgents. (KP)
