Ghani Stresses Need for Joint War on Terrorism

KABUL - President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday stressed the need for joint efforts against contemporary challenges in the war on terrorism and extremism.

During a meeting with Dutch foreign and defence ministers, the president said changing scenario on regional and international level emerged new threats which required more cooperation between the states, the presidential statement said.

It added both the dignitaries agreed that terrorism had become a systematic way of brutalities and violence in the world.

 “We had been engaged to develop joint strategy with other Islamic country on how to tackle the newly-emerging threats,” the statement quoted the president as saying during the meeting.

The president sought Dutch support for getting greater advantage for river water in the Afghanistan and other development projects.

The Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders assured the president of his country complete support in the development of Afghanistan. He said: “We will consider that in which capacity the Dutch could help Afghanistan to exploiting its water resources for its benefits.” (Pajhwok)
