New Police Officers Deployed to Kabul

KABUL - Following a decree by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani regarding appointment of competent district chiefs in the capital Kabul, 27 police officials have been deputed in the capital Kabul, an official said Monday.

Kabul Police Chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi told a news conference that the officers included the battalion commanders and district police chiefs.

He said that bringing changes to the system was vital but recalled that former police officers who were replaced served the people and their performances should be respected.

“It is great responsibility for each of you and you should discharge your duties efficiently,” Rahimi told the new officers.

He said that chief for first police district, Jamila was also sacked and deployed to the human rights gender position of Kabul police headquarters.

Jamila was the only district chief who earlier told Pajhwok Afghan News that she was took bold steps against criminals in Kabul and she was patrolling herself during midnights to check criminal activities in the city.

President Ghani has recently said that police force should free itself of politics and the district chiefs and commanders for all police districts of Kabul should be appointed on merit basis. (Pajhwok)
