Militants under Any Brand Threat to Humanity: Gen. Murad

KABUL - Following deep concerns growing over emergence of masked insurgents by the name Islamic State fighters, the Afghan National Army (ANA) Ground Forces Commander stresses all the militant groups are the enemies of Afghanistan.

During his visit to northern Balkh, Gen. Murad Ali Murad acknowledged the IS fighters, who have seized some major parts of Iraq and Syria, were trying to establish their centers in Afghanistan.

"Masked men active in Zabul and Helmand provinces have raised black flags and are trying to spread their activities to northern parts but I say that they are the same enemies who are a threat to human beings," Gen. Murad said.

These statements were expressed after some local officials in Helmand and Nimruz provinces confirmed sightings of apparent IS fighters with black flags.

The rumors of IS presence grew sharply after the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) assumed the full security responsibility from NATO troops who have declared end of their combat mission in Afghanistan.

Currently, the ANSF forces are leading clearing operations in northern Badakhshan, Kunduz, Baghlan, Jawzjan, Sar-e-Pul and Faryab provinces.

Despite the absence of NATO combat support, the ANSF soldiers involved in these operations speak of their ability to curb the rebels.

"I assure my countrymen to ensure the security of entire country," ANA Soldier Torjan said.

However these forces complained of shortcomings in Air Force and asked the government to pay earnest attention in this field. (Tolonews)
