Divisions among Afghans Won’t be Allowed

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani has vowed to frustrate efforts at creating divisions among Afghans, saying his administration will do all it can to promote unity.

Addressing members of the London-based Afghan community, the president pledged to work for the country’s progress and prosperity, according to a statement from his office.

Flanked by Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah, the president told his interlocutors: “Wherever you are living in the UK, I’m sure, you rise from bed thinking of Afghanistan.”

He urged the Afghans living in Britain to contribute to Afghanistan’s development on the basis of a unified strategy. “Dr. Abdullah and I have formed the new government on the basis of unity of thought and action to prevent divisions.”

Ghani said no one would be allowed to create differences among the Afghans. Two young speakers, speaking on behalf of the Afghans, lauded the spirit of Ghani and Abdullah. (Pajhwok)
