Insiders Help Terrorists in Attacks: Dostum

KABUL - First Vice-President Abdul Rashid Dostum on Tuesday said anti-government elements would be targeted and eliminated in every part of the country.

Speaking to journalists at the site of today’s suicide attack on a foreign firm in Kabul, Dostum said insiders who worked for anti-government forces should be identified and arrested.

The truck suicide bomb attack targeted a compound housing foreign contractors in the Tarakhel area, leaving two Afghan guards dead and three Afghan civilians and a foreigner injured.

“There are insiders who cooperate with the enemy in carrying out such attacks, otherwise how and where from they come and reach Darul Aman area and the airport road,” asked the Uzbek leader, who warned the perpetrators would be punished soon for their deeds.

Dostum said he had instructed all security agencies to comprehensively investigate the security situation and present a report to the National Security Council.

The VP said it had been espionage warfare in Afghanistan, with Afghan intelligence agencies lagging behind.

On the delay in Cabinet formation, the VP acknowledged the delay contributed to insecurity in the country. However, he said the Cabinet would be formed soon.

Kabul police chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zahir Zahir said he would not rule out the involvement of insider in today’s attack. (Pajhwok)
