No Discordance with Ghani, New Cabinet Soon: Abdullah

KABUL - The executive chief of National Unity Government (NUG) Abdullah Abdullah has rejected as baseless the reports indicating disagreement between him and President Ghani on formation of new cabinet.

Abdullah Abdullah said on Saturday that the cabinet needs more time to establish following accuracy and consultations on appointment of qualified and eligible persons.

These statements are expressed as unconfirmed reports have increased about the disagreement between President Ghani and CEO Abdullah on appointments of new cabinet members.

Abdullah Abdullah, however, refuted the reports as baseless, saying the new cabinet will be established in near future and that with consultations within the national unity government.

“There are reports that we have failed to reach an agreement on cabinet,” Abdullah said. “We are in contact with the President and we have decided to form the cabinet soon.”

Abdullah reiterated that there was no choice but to form the government of national unity.

“New cabinet needs more consultation and accuracy and it will take place in next few days or weeks,” according to Abdullah.

This comes as President Ghani after taking oath of his office promised the nation to form the cabinet in first 45 days of the government, however, three days have been passed since the deadline expired but there is no sign of the cabinet.

But rumors indicate that still President Ghani and Abdullah has not reached the agreement on appointments of key slots of the government including the cabinet members.
