Security Institutions Under Fire

KABUL - The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the national unity government, Abdullah Abdullah, has strongly condemned the recent spate of insecurity in the country demanding a report from the relevant security institutions.

In the Council of Ministers meeting on Monday, CEO Abdullah criticized the recent wave of attacks in the capital and provinces, calling on the relevant institutions to present their reports on security failure.

These statements were expressed as a number of armed attacks were reported from capital Kabul and several other provinces. On Sunday, the Kabul Police Headquarter was targeted in a suicide attack killing the office manager of the Kabul Police Chief and injuring six others.

Alongside the security of the country, Abdullah has directed the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to undertake comprehensive plans in order to boost the country's economy.

"As per the instruction of the president, the MoF must undertake more inclusive plans to raise the government's revenue as there has been no balance between our income and expenses," Abdullah told the meeting of acting ministers, putting an emphasis on the donor countries' and people's expectations of Afghanistan.

Calling the recent report of some ministries unsatisfactory, he stated that "unfortunately, some of the ministries have presented inadequate reports, which were below our expectations. The given information in the reports was incomplete and we want the correct information."

Also pointing out the power shortages, Abdullah called on the Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) to take effective measures to overcome electricity shortages, especially in the coming winter.

CEO Abdullah also asked his first deputy to take control of hiking prices of fuel, edible items and other daily items used in the winter. (Tolonews)
