Abdullah Vows to  Boost Security Organs

KABUL - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah said on Wednesday removing doubts from the minds of armed forces and a clear distinction between friends and foes would help lift the morale of the security personnel.

Chairing a high-level meeting of Afghan National Army (ANA) and ISAF officials at the Ministry of Defence, he praised endeavors and sacrifices of the armed forces. Abdullah promised the government would do its best to strengthen security institutions.

The (CEO) stressed the need for bringing down the fatality rate among the armed forces, saying the military’s high morale was vital to efficient performance. He also called for removing doubts and a clear distinction of friends and enemies as a prerequisite for this.  

Calling the formation of the unity government a new chapter in the history of Afghanistan, Abdullah hoped the opportunity would be used to serve the nation.

He called upon the people to back the ANA and pushed security forces to stay committed to national unity. “All problems cannot be solved with loud claims and hurriedly executed measures,” he observed, explaining that complicated issues needed a comprehensive strategy.

Abdullah would raise the matter of coordination and understanding among the armed forces with the president and in the National Security Council to remove obstacles in this regard.

Acting Minister of Interior Omar Daudzai said the rebels were equipped with modern weapons. He believed the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) with the US would prove vital to better security in the future.

Interim Minister of Defence Bismillah Muhammadi lauded efforts and commitment of the army. Rehmatullah Nabil, acting director of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), suggested a nationwide campaign to muster support for the armed forces. (Pajhwok)
