Ghani Renews Pledge to Enforce Laws on Powerful

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai on Sunday said he was strongly determined to enforce laws on powerful individuals, vowing equal rights for the Afghans.

Ahmadzai said this while talking to a delegation led by Syed Mansoor Naderi, the Afghanistan Milli Paiwand party leader at the Presidential Palace, a statement from the palace said.

“Now the time has come to fulfill promises held out to the nation one after another,” the statement quoted Ahmadzai as saying.

“I am strongly committed to implementing laws on the powerful. Don’t let me besieged in the palace and become prey to individuals flattering me. My promise is no discrimination among Afghans,” the president said. He said uniform enforcement of laws meant adherence to the supremacy of law.

About strengthening political groups, Ahmadzai said: “We will pave the ground for the development of coherent political parties. It is my duty to get trained at least 20 persons for ministries and hundreds for provinces over the next five years.”

On interferences into Afghanistan’s affairs by neighbouring countries, Ahmadzai said the Afghan national unity would never be brought under question. (Pajhwok)
