Around 100 Civilians Brutally  Massacred in Ghazni Province

KABUL - Around 100 civilians were brutally killed by Taliban militants as heavy clashes continue in Ajristan district of southeastern Ghazni province. According to local government officials, around 800 Taliban militants including 200 foreign fighters have staged coordinated attacks in Ajristan district.

Provincial council chief, Abdul Jameh Jameh, said clashes intensified since Thursday and major transport routes have been closed by the Taliban fighters.

Jameh further added that Taliban militants have brutally shot dead and burnt civilians in Ajristan district.

In the meantime, a local security official, speaking on the condition of anonymity said the Taliban execution of civilians in Ajristan has resemblance to Islamic State killings in Iraq.

In the meantime, Jameh said preliminary reports suggest at least ten members of the national security forces were marytred during clashes. However, he said the death could rise as heavy gun battle continues in the area.

Jameh also added that majority of the local residents have taken refuge in the hills and there are fears they will be captured by Taliban militants. (KP)
