400 Oil Tankers Torched Outside Kabul

KABUL - At least 400 tankers reportedly transporting oil for security forces caught fire overnight in Paghman district outside the capital Kabul, an official said on Saturday.

The Taliban said they launched a rocket attack on the tankers parked at the Arghandi market, destroying hundreds of the vehicles with logistics for foreign troops.

The Paghman district police chief Col. Amrullah told Pajhwok Afghan News firefighters spent all the night tackling the fire but could not control the blaze that erupted at 10:40 pm last night.

He said 250 vehicles were moved to safety from the site but more than 400 had been torched. He feared casualties in the incident but had no information in this regard.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid militants set on fire hundreds of tankers supplying logistics for foreign forces.

He claimed dozens of foreign and Afghan security personnel were killed in the attack. (Pajhwok)
