China Provided Emergency Humanitarian Aid to Afghanistan

KABUL – Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan, Deng Xijun, provided the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) with US$50,000 donated by the Red Cross Society of China(RCSC) as emergency humanitarian aid.

Ambassador Deng said that the Chinese Government and people were deeply grieved by the losses of the Afghan people in both life and property caused by recent flooding in northern and northwestern Afghanistan. As a close neighbor of Afghanistan, China sympathized with the Afghan people and conveyed condolences to Afghanistan. The RCSC provided the emergency aid in cash to Afghanistan with a view of relieving the pain and difficulties of the people affected by the flood. China hoped that the Afghan people would overcome the difficulties and rebuild their homeland at an early date, and was willing to enhance the bilateral cooperation in disaster relief and management.

Ms.Fatima Gailani, President of the ARCS expressed her sincere gratitude to Ambassador Deng, the RCSC and the Chinese people. She said that China consistently and actively participates in the Afghan peace and reconstruction process over the past decade. After the flood occurred, China is the first neighboring country of Afghanistan to provide humanitarian aid to the ARCS, which vividly proves once again the friendship and support of the Chinese people to the Afghan people.
