Uzbekistan orders 15 million doses of coronavirus vaccine

Uzbekistan has ordered 15 million doses of coronavirus vaccine for vaccination of 20% of country population, Vice Chief of Sanitary and Epidemiological Well-Being Service Nurmat Atabekov said.
"Around 15 million doses of coronavirus vaccine for 2-staged vaccination of 7 million people will be delivered in total. At the initial stage we plan to bring 100,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine and vaccinate around 50,000 people," he said.
The official has not mentioned what coronavirus vaccine was ordered.
It was announced earlier Uzbekistan planned to allocate 3 trillion soums ($285.3 million) for COVID-19 response and purchase of coronavirus vaccines.
It was also reported that vaccination of population with Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccine will start in April or May 2021. 100,000 doses of this vaccine were reportedly ordered. (Akipress)
