Putin invited to visit Greece in March

ATHENS- Russian President Vladimir Putin has been invited to Greece to attend celebrations in March 2021 dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the 1821 revolution against Ottoman rule, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"Greece is a member of the EU and NATO, but this does not stop us from broadening our cooperation. I have invited Vladimir Putin to come to Athens on March 25, 2021," he said.
Lavrov, in turn, said that he shares Mitsotakis's opinion that Greece's membership in the NATO and the European Union cannot act as an obstacle to the development of relations with Russia.
At the same time, "we'd like the EU and NATO not to keep us from developing relations with Greece, either," Lavrov said. (Interfax)
