The world needs to work together to build a community with shared future for mankind and make Asia and the world peaceful, prosperous, tranquil and open, Chinese President Xi Jinping said at the opening ceremony of Boao Forum on Tuesday.
Delivering a keynote speech at the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) 2018 annula confernce, which was held in South China’s Hainan province and attended by high-level delegates from Asian countries, President Xi reiterated building a community with shared destiny and urged all nations to work together to reach a peaceful and prosperous society. He said that we need to promote dialogue instead of confrontation, partnership instead of alliance, engage in cooperation for win-win results, uphold inclusiveness and seek harmony without uniformity.
President Xi pointed out that there are people still living in shadow of conflict in some countries, diseas remains a formidable challenge, and women suffer from hunger.
He maintained that the world had to safeguard peace for region and beyond, promote social equity and justice, pursue global partnership and build a community with shared future.
Pointing out that the Chinese are a truth-seeking nation, President Xi said that China will continue reform and opening-up and open its door for reform wider to the world. He also stated a Chinese saying that mountains are formed with accumulation of earth and oceans are formed with accumulation of water, which indicates that a peaceful world is formed with accumulation of nations’ will and cooperation.  “Over the last four decades, the Chinese people have embraced the world with open arms and actively contributed our share to the world,” said President Xi. “Today, the Chinese people can say with great pride that reform and opening-up, China’s second revolution if you like, has not only profoundly changed the country but also greatly influenced the whole world.” United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said at the BFA that a vast number of people are left behind in the process of globalization. He said that a fair globalization will leave no one behind. He stressed that the benefit of the progress should reach everywhere.
