NEW DELHI - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will go to Belgium to attend the European Union-India Summit in Brussels next month, sources said on Saturday.
"Modi will stop in Brussels to attend the summit on March 30, which will be held after a gap of nearly four years, en route to the United States," the sources said.
According to sources, suspended talks on the Bilateral Trade and Investment Agreement may resume during Modi's visit to Belgium or at least an announcement could be made.
To create a background for Modi's visit, Indian Commerce Secretary Rita Teotia will go to Brussels Monday to meet her counterpart at the European Commission.
While EU has been demanding that India lower its duties on automobiles and wines, India wants data security status that is crucial for the country's IT sector to do more business with the EU firms.(Xinhua)
