Taliban’s Growing Influence!

Formerly, two Taliban suicide bombers struck a meeting of community leaders in a southern Afghan town near the Afghanistan border on Sunday, leaving five people dead, 15 wounded, according to reports. The dead were a child, a health vaccinator, a member of the Shura (council), a shopkeeper and a person there to register himself for an identity card. All the wounded were ill-fated civilians who had come to the meeting to discuss their problems with Shura members.

The attack took place whilst custodial release of Taliban members from Afghanistan and Pakistan is in progression. This dreadful incidence reflects Taliban's extremist ideology which is violence, embarrassing and seems as if they are not going to disband insurgency and homicide of innocent civilians. What does it illustrate? Are Taliban worthy to negotiate with? Should the government guarantee amnesty to such severe human rights violators? Should government continue negotiation amid Taliban's indulgence in anti-state activities?

It also seems that the militants are familiar with civilian movements, and their attacks are painstakingly staged. Poor political performance and deteriorating law and order condition are indicating that Taliban are getting more and more control with each passing day.

If the government security apparatus is fully equipped for countering insurgency and broad based political strategy is designed for encompassing every facet of socio-political and economic reforms, the government can establish its firm rules otherwise Taliban would keep on pursuing insurgency.

It is worrisome, Afghan government speaking, Taliban's tune asking for complete withdrawal of US led coalition forces whilst being deficient of combating the grave situation of law and order prevailing in the country. The question can be aired on fallacious competency of afghan forces being ignorant of Taliban movements and planned attacks which could be averted if proper vigilance was put to exercise.

Nevertheless, the arbitrary releases of large number of Taliban members devoid of any appropriate mechanism pose serious threat to political and social harmony. The underlying reality is that none can assure Taliban shall undo their frequent practices based on flawed perception of religion without being rehabilitated in that course of time. No, strategy devised to make them unlearn their inhuman activities practiced for overwhelming period of their lives.

Taliban are still subjective to the use of force pressurizing government to further their will and demand. It signifies how it can be expected to protect the civilian population or rein in a force that seems to be operating at will and quite rapidly expanding operations to many parts of the country.

People are concerned about the safety of their capitals in the country after complete US withdrawal post 2014. The citizens can't be fooled with rhetoric instead practical display of endemic sustainable security and effective administration is urged.
