2012 Ended with Bloodshed in Pakistan

They were pilgrims and on their way back home when their buses were attacked by suicide bomber(s) in Mastung district's Dringarh area, some 30 km south of Blochistan's capital city, Quetta. Eye witnesses said it was a suicide blast as a car slammed to one of the buses, which was carrying 45 passengers. The blast blew it up and destroyed it while two other buses also caught fire and were partially damaged. 2012 witnessed the highest level of assaults in Quetta, Pakistan, mostly taking lives of Hazaras: around 200 hundred dead and many others injured. Definitely, the story of blood and tears of this community is not new.

During history, Hazaras experienced persecution in both Afghanistan and Pakistan. They were massacred in different periods of history and the most inhuman and barbaric one took place under the monarchy in 19th century when around 60% of them were murdered or displaced. The Afghan king could massacre them only through close cooperation of Britain India

and promulgation of decree from highly influential religious scholars branding fight against Hazara as holy Jihad. Hazaras in Quetta are also part of diaspora during the regime of Abdur Rahman. Since then the community could never restore its high profile historical and prestigious civilization which is reflected in the more than 2000 years old Budha statues in Bamyan. It has been more than two centuries that this community has been under suppression.

Now, this community once again experiences persecution right under the eyes of international community who watch it silently. Seemingly, everyone stands with folded hands and nobody, from amongst the international community, puts the issue seriously with Pakistani officials. Lashkar-e-Jhangavi takes the responsibilities of targeted killings, but yet its leaders are walking free in the country. It is highly unlikely that Pakistan's well-equipped and sophisticated security outfits are unaware of hideouts of such terrorist groups.
