War and militancy in Afghanistan have created security problems for Afghanistan and its neighbors. Unfortunately, notwithstanding US presence in Afghanistan since last eleven years, we still face an uncertain future. One of the poorest countries in the region, its people still sees no peace and aggrandizement.

The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) deployed in Afghanistan is playing an important role in bringing peace and stability in the country. The Taliban Movement in Afghanistan and the growing Islamic militancy in Central Asia is the matter of great concern not only for our country but for our supporters (US, Coalition) as well.

Civilian and Coalition forces casualty as well insider attacks in Afghanistan underline the dangers, actual and potential, in the spread of international terrorism. Like Afghanistan, Pakistan is fighting terrorism on its own soil.
The war against international terrorism was launched and is being conducted with the active participation of Central Asian countries. These countries are relatively weak and are experiencing enormous socio-economic and political changes. On the other hand, Emerging threats of terrorism and militancy in Central Asia strongly disturbing the economic activities and investment climate.

Pakistan's cooperation in maintaining internal security and war against terrorism with Afghanistan which is a pre-requisite for better and friendly relations between the two countries are the imperative of the time. Although the two states support the war on terrorism and thus find themselves on the same side in this global conflict.

According to reports on Monday December 31, 2012, Pakistan has released four more Afghan Taliban prisoners which includes former Taliban justice ministerNooruddinTurabi, and former governor of Helmand province Abdul Bari which shows that Pakistan strongly support the efforts to start formal peace talks in Afghanistan which was initiated by President Karzai as well as to make Afghanistan a prosperous and peaceful country.

Afghanistan and Pakistan both the neighboring countries are facing the worst terrorism since the start of the war on terror. Helping each other would be the only way to bring both the countries out of this menace which is being faced by both the brotherly countries.
