Peace Talks have not Served Peace

The dream for a permanent peace in Afghanistan has always remained a mysterious one. The nation suffered a long-lasting internal conflicts and bloodshed with worst ever consequences in those days of more than three decades of constant war, yet the government's bold efforts could not succeed to bring a permanent peace and put an end to this phenomenon.

In the last ten years, President Karzia along with his foreign allies have had bold efforts in fighting against terrorism, corruption and injustice, and enabled the most excluded sections to take part in any initiative for the good of this country and enabled women to have best productive part in rebuilding the state and helped children return in their classes.

Following the efforts for peace and stability, earlier this month, the United Kingdom promulgated to continue its support with the government of Afghanistan in peace process which is believed to be the only way in ending the ongoing bloodshed in this country.

In addition to that the recent visit of the High Peace Council to Pakistan, led by the Chairman 'Salahuddin Rabani' on November 12 had also a good progress in advancing the Afghan-led peace and reconciliation process, according to the British Foreign Secretary, William Hague, in a statement released by the British Foreign Office.

While talking to media, he further added that peace in both Pakistan and Afghanistan is in the best interest of the United Kingdom and the British authorities appreciate this initiative by the Afghan-Pak governments for their efforts in the peace and reconciliation process. He also said that this initiative could this time bring a permanent peace in this suffering country and they hope that the Afghan government should further strengthen its efforts in the fight for peace and progress.

In addition to that, at the same time, the U.S Secretary Hilary Clinton in a media talk in Brussels, in the NATO Foreign Ministers meeting had also said, "We also continue to support the Afghan-led or Afghan-owned peace and reconciliation process. We believe there has to be a political resolution to the ongoing disputes among the Afghan nation".

She further added that, they would dedicate their efforts to a post-2014 Afghanistan with intentions to enable them secure themselves against any forces and into a political process that is to enable Afghan government to move towards a true democracy and stability which respects the rights of the whole nation and those of most excluded and deprived ones.

Keeping in mind the foreign supports in the Afghan owned peace and reconciliation process, this time the London trilateral meeting would be the best opportunity for the Afghan-led peace and reconciliation process to strengthen their joint efforts to address the extremism and advance a regional peace and progress, which are in the best interests of the foreign and Afghan government.

Above all, the Afghan government is not all alone beyond 2014 in fighting against the terrorist groups or any other force. The world nations are with the people of Afghanistan after 2014. More importantly, the Afghan Security forces are also now well-equipped and capable to maintain good security situation in the country even beyond 2014. It is hoped that these findings will help bridge the gap in understanding between the international community, the Afghan government, and the Afghan people as a whole.
