Since last couple of years, Afghan president Hamid Karzai trying hard to bring Taliban on the table of negotiation but lingering approach by Mr. President could not bring positive result to achieve desirable result and bring durable and lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan. It is because of failed strategy by Government and lack of buoyancy by Al-Qaeda backed Taliban militants.
On Thursday February 23, 2012 Ahmad Zia Massoud, leader of the Afghanistan National Coalition, marking the 32nd anniversary of the historic uprising by Kabul residents against Soviet troops in 1980, told a gathering that the insurgents should not be invited to the peace talks until they severed relations with the intelligence networks of foreign countries.
"The Afghan government and the international community want to integrate the Taliban into the current political system. Unfortunately, the Afghans are unaware of it," he added.
Observers and analysts are of the view that without Pakistan help its not possible to reconcile Al-Qaeda backed Taliban militants. President Karzai, last week, during his visit to Pakistan met with his Pakistan and Iranian counterparts and pressed Pakistan on specific steps Islamabad can take to facilitate peace talks with the Afghan Taliban.
It is to be mentioned here that Pakistan is seen as key to the peace process.
Notwithstanding, Pakistan is taking great interest in helping Afghan government to bring Taliban to the Table of negotiation. who are the real enemy of the People of both the countries. Pakistani Prime Minister, Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, on Friday in his statement on Afghanistan said that Pakistan wishes to have the best relations with Afghanistan.
We also believe that the process of national reconciliation must be initiated as soon as but with more substantial and comprehensive mechanism. It is imperative to promote an intra-Afghan consensus for a durable political settlement that accords with the aspirations of the people of Afghanistan, as a whole, he said.
Indubitably, the process of reconciliation yet bring no fruitful result and Taliban militants intensifying their brutal attacks and high profile assassination which resulted in getting life of personalities respected among Afghan society. Probably its because of not understanding the nature of Taliban and also not yet decided with whom Afghan government should negotiate. It is Government's failure by not apprehending the real big fish. It is to be revealed that last time a bogus Taliban leader caused the killing of former president and high peace council chief, Burhanuddin Rabbani.
Irrefutably, Regional peace and stability depends on a stable, peaceful, self-resilience and thriving Afghanistan. Also Afghan government should keep in mind that the positive approaches bring positive results. International Community as well as neighboring countries ought to be wary of the importance of ensuring that the peace process and reconciliation succeed.
