Another Woman Victim

The violence against women increases in the country according to Afghan human Rights Commission. Time and again, there are astonishing reports released which are signs of prevalent inhuman behavior.
The story of Sahar Gol has not yet gotten out of focus and media discussions, there is a new horrible report about an innocent woman tortured and, later on, killed by her husband's family. In district of Khan Abad, Qonduz province, a woman named Satori was tortured and killed according to available reports. The only reason behind was giving birth to a female infant for third consecutive time, which ostensibly angered her husband's family. She was punished for not giving birth to a male infant!

How terrible! Months ago, Sahar Gol was jailed for six months for not yielding to illegal and un-Islamic demand of her husband's family for working as prostitute. And this time, Satori was killed for not changing her female infant into a male one. Hope her killers could understand that perhaps she also did not like to have a female infant due to sex discrimination in the country.

Likely, she also hoped for a male infant because his future was guaranteed and would not face the destiny of his mother. Moreover, hope her murderer understood she liked to have a male infant due to punishments and scorns received after her two early female infants. She might have even prayed to Allah Almighty to give her a male child in order to attract sympathy from her new family and husband.

But who cares? It is Afghanistan. As Khaleed Husseini, a great Afghan writer, beautifully explains in his book named "A thousand splendid sons" the situation of an Afghan woman, quoting a woman as saying that a man always finds a woman to blame her for his own sin and mistake. The science has proved that determination of sex actually has nothing to do with woman. It is male chromosomes which define sex of fetus. But who cares because there is a woman to be blamed.

The most horrible thing is the reality that a kind of anti-women cult has grown up in the country. It was much less painful if Sahar Gol, Sator and thousand others were tortured only by male of the families and women were not accomplice. Unfortunately women are also involved in crimes against women.

In both the cases of Sahar Gol and Satori, their mother-in-laws were guilty. Hope both receive due punishment for encouraging their sons and husbands to torture their brides.
