No One to Save Palestinians

The barbarous attacks of Israel in Gaza are heating up and Sunday was the most deadly day when more than 100 Palestinians were killed while Israel also claimed that their 13 soldiers were killed by the counter attacks of Hamas. Overall, the number of Palestinians casualties has crossed 500 in which all of them are citizens including women and elderly while 100 children have also been targeted and killed by the Israelis in these attacks. On the other hand, only 13 Israeli soldiers have been killed and it was also possible after they started their land attacks. While the rockets fired by Hamas into the Israeli territory were able to injure a few people. Majority of these rockets were exploded while they were in the air before landing on the Jewish soil.

There have been some protests by the civil society activists and common citizens in some parts of the country while the leaders of the Islamic world have yet not gathered enough courage to condemn these attacks. A grand protest rally was held in the British capital of London in which more than one hundred thousand people chanted slogans and carried placards to save the innocent Palestinians of the brutal attacks of Israelis. The most important voice has been heard of the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Teyyep Erdogan who has condemned these attacks in the harshest words and asked Israel to stop these attacks. As far as Arab states are concerned, they seem to be divided on the issue of Sunni-Shia discrimination and this fact has kept them silent from condemning these attacks.

International community has yet to decide if Palestinians are really victims or they have lost their lives in the efforts of Israel to depend itself from the terror attacks of Hamas. UN’s Secretary General has asked for a ceasefire in the region but yet failed to directly ask the Israel to stop the attacks. In the same way, the government of United States has asked for a ceasefire but they have also upheld the right of Israel to protect itself from Hamas.

The role of international media has been also very disappointing. In a day when 60 Palestinians lost their lives and only two Israelis were injured in the rocket attacks, the rocket attacks were highlighted while the bombing of Israeli warplanes were not given much coverage. There are also reports that many new agencies had to relocate their reporters as they were showing the true picture of the barbarism of Israel and casualties of Palestinian citizens mostly including of innocent children.

There is not present any power that can stop Israel from its atrocities. The lesson learnt is that, until and unless you make yourself strong, you would be utilized like a useless object.
